Leading Premier League players once again lined up to make star appearances at schools across the country

PlayStationŽ Schools’ Cup, the biggest grassroots football competition in England, is back for a fourth season! The partnership with the English Schools’ FA (ESFA) has already given over 200,000 school children a chance to compete in national competitions.

A grand total of 20 tournaments for both boys and girls across the secondary school age categories, range from the main PlayStation Schools’ Cup competitions and District tournaments through to ‘Small Schools’ and ‘B Team’ trophies, helping create fun and competitive formats that are accessible to schools of all sizes and abilities.

The competition has received backing from players at the highest level too. Throughout the last three seasons, over 30 leading professional footballers including the likes of RiyadMahrez, Harry Kane, Juan Mata and England women’s national captain Steph Houghton have lent their support to helping inspire the next generation of football stars. Star names are once again being lined up this season to make guest appearances at ‘Tie of the Round’ roadshows that visit schools throughout the season.

PlayStation Schools’ Cup fixtures will take place between September 2016 and March 2017, with the National Finals played out at a multiple day football Festival at a professional football stadium.

PlayStation UK Managing Director Warwick Light commented: “Giving both boys and girls the chance to take part in a high profile football competition is a proud occasion for them to cherish. We are looking forward to teaming up with the ESFA for a fourth season and offer more young players than ever before the chance to represent their school in national competitions.”

ESFA Chairman Alan Johnston said: “The smiles on the faces of so many pupils at the roadshow events and the National Finals supported by famous Premier League footballers is a huge testament to the positive impact PlayStation continues to have on grassroots football. PlayStation’s support helps us to continue to improve our professional structure for schools football competitions across the country and we are all extremely excited to be extending our successful partnership for a fourth season.”

The English Schools' FA are pleased to welcome all competing teams to the ESFA 2016-17 Season and look forward to seeing all the teams' progress this season!

Good luck out there!
