High Tunstall through to the 3rd Round of the U12 PlayStation Schools’ Cup with a 3-1 win over Macmillan Academy
5 October 2016

In a bruising encounter on the Costa Del Boro, it was the visitors that took the spoils to progress to the 3rd round of the ESFA competition.

Playing up Roseberry Topping and into a strong wind in the first half, High Tunstall dealt with conditions superbly and were in control when Stephenson broke the deadlock with a well-timed finish following a Woolston squared ball across goal.

The lead was doubled when Stephenson again finished a great team move from close range.

The game entered the second half and began to descend into a physical battle for supremacy as opposed to a footballing exhibition. Thankfully, Ryder & Trimble were up for the fight keeping a physical Macmillan front man quiet with some robust challenges.

High Tunstall talisman Woolston extended the visitors lead after taking a smart Lyth assist well and finishing coolly from 10 yards.

A late Macmillan consolation goal signified the first time the Pattison goal had been breached this season but that is how the score remained to maintain the Elwick Roaders' unbeaten start to the season.

An absolute pleasure to manage, next up, Durham Johnston at home next Friday.

The ESFA would like to congratulate High Tunstall on their second round win of the U12 PlayStation Schools’ Cup competition and also thank Macmillan Academy for their participation in the cup this season – best of luck in your other competitions!
