ESFA U15 Schoolgirl programme takes shape

Hot off the back of the hugely successful 2015/16 season, the English Schools’ FA has announced key new appointments to join the U15 International squad management team. The English Schoolgirls’ U15 squad is set to benefit from the appointment of both a new Manager, Claire Robinson (Gateshead College) and Assistant Manager Stephanie Libbey (Redcar Academy).

Both have been busy already, assisting at regional trials across the country. Please read on for a short biography on each new member of the coaching staff.

 

Claire Robinson - Northumberland, Gateshead College

Claire joins the programme as a teacher at Gateshead College for nearly 9 years. During this time she has held a number of other elite sporting roles including; Club Mentor, Sunderland Girl’s Technical Director and Sports Scientist within the England Youth set-up.

She is also enrolled on a Master’s Programme at Northumbria University, focusing on Professional Practice in Sports Coaching. Her qualifications include the UEFA A Licence, the FA Youth Award and FA Generic Tutor Training.

Stephanie Libbey - Cleveland, Redcar Academy

Stephanie joins as a Teacher of Physical Education at Redcar Academy. Her Coaching exoerience includes Development Team Head Coach & U16 Head Coach with Durham Women Football Club.

She will hold the Assistant Manager’s position for two seasons before becoming Team Manager in 2018/19. Stephanie has also completed a number of coaching qualificiations including her UEFA B Licence, FA Youth Award Module 2 and Futsal Level 1.

The girls will defend their title as Bob Docherty trophy holders, again the primary home nations’ international cup for their age group, on 10th April in Belfast. They are aiming to match the success of the 15/16 squad who were undefeated throughout the entire season.

The U15 team management have been overseeing the squad selection and trials for this season which are currently taking place. Following a successful round of first trials, we are pleased to announce the successful girls have been notified of their progress to the next round of regional trials. These regional trials games will take place on the Sunday 6th November (North v Midlands and South East v South West). We would like to wish all involved the best of luck!
