Marshalls Park progressed to the 2nd round of the Boys’ U12 PlayStation Schools’ Cup following a 2 – 1 win against Sedgehill School last month.

15 October 2016

The team started well, attacking down both wings and had a several shots on target. We were dealing well with their attack and had a good shape to our side. We took the lead half way through the first half with captain Owen Knapman striking the ball past their keeper.

Sedgehill were a strong team and a times we were struggling to keep up with them, but we showed great resilience. In the second half Sedgehill continued their dominance and equalized with 10 minutes to go. Both teams had opportunities to win the game, but it remained 1-1 at full time. Having had extra time in our last national cup game the boys were comfortable with upping the tempo and got the winner with 3 minutes to go, an excellent strike from Charlie Howell. This was a great result for us, as we had not played at our best. Man of the Match was Charlie Howell.

Unfortunately, Marshalls Park lost out in Round 3 of the competition earlier in November, to a strong Coombe Boys’ School U12 team. However, to soften the blow, the school is due to host a PlayStation Schools’ Cup Tie of the Round event with a West Ham player in attendance!
