Michail Antonio with Players from Marshalls Park School in Romford

West Ham’s in form forward Michail Antonio paid a surprise visit to Marshalls Park School in Romford.

The 26-year-old was in attendance to support the PlayStation Schools’ Cup, and a specially arranged under 13 fixture between Marshalls Park School and fellow local school Bower Park School – both of which have been big supporters of the PlayStation Schools’ Cup this season.

Prior to kick off of the match, Antonio was introduced to both teams before jumping into a team photograph. The occasion proved a double celebration for young Freddie Potts, son of former West Ham defender and current coach of West Ham’s U21 team Steve Potts, who was clearly inspired by Michail, scoring a brace as Marshalls Park School beat Bower Park School 3-2 and beating Antonio 1-0 in a match against the West Ham forward on the popular PS4 FIFA 17 game.

Excited Hammers fans got the chance to quiz the West Ham star during the pupil Q&A, where he revealed before hitting the heights of the Premier League with West Ham and during his non-league days with Tooting & Mitcham United, considered a career as PE teacher.

Michail was also challenged to participate in ‘call out penalties’ involving YouTuber and former pupil of Marshalls Park School Behzinga, who proved hugely popular with the pupils. You can see the YouTuber's video here.

The school’s Sports Hall was also converted into a PS4 gaming zone for the day, marking the perfect reward for pupils doing well in class.
