In the last of four Premier League U16 National Finals to take place in Manchester for this season, Reddish Vale were to become victorious on home turf.

Reddish Vale High School were confirmed as the winners of the 2017 Premier League Under 16 Open Schools’ Cup for Boys’ after narrowly beating Ravens Wood School 1-0 in a tight affair at the Manchester Regional Arena on Tuesday 25 April 2017. In this final U16 Schools’ Cup match, played over the 24th and 25th April, this Open Schools’ Cup tournament came to a dramatic close, packed full of highly contested skill, portrayed by the two squads that had battled it out through seven prior rounds. Matthew Daly scored the only goal of the game in the 26th minute to crown Reddish Vale High School as champions, in a closely contested final. Both sides deserve tremendous credit for the entertaining spectacle that they produced in front of a large crowd of supporters, mostly made up of local team, Reddish Vale’s school pupils, in challenging weather conditions.

Ravens Wood School, accepted their defeat gracefully and thoroughly deserved their applause during the post-match presentation.
