North Leverton & British School in Final
The English Schools’ FA gave sixteen Primary Schools’ football teams the experience of a lifetime on Saturday morning, when they competed in the National Finals of the ESFA Under 11 Small Sided Competitions at a sun-soaked Wembley Stadium.
These matches were a prelude to the England v France Under 18 Schoolboy International that kicked off at 3.00 pm, and were superbly encouraged and supported by over 9,000 spectators, which helped provide a fantastic carnival atmosphere.
A preliminary tournament was held the day before at Watford Football Club’s training ground to decide which teams would play in the final and which would compete in the 3rd / 4th place play off at the home of football.
Solihull beat Southampton 2-1 in the final of the U11 Inter Association Trophy, thanks to a brace from Bailey Ralph. Southampton’s reply came courtesy of Matt Worthington.
Harewood Junior School (Gloucester PSFA) lifted the U11 Schools’ Cup (Boys) after they defeated Manor Farm Junior School (High Wycombe PSFA) 3-1 in the final. Harewood’s goals were scored by Karnell Chambers (2) and Will Hayward. Manor Farm’s response came from James Outten.
St Paul’s CE Primary School (High Wycombe PSFA) and Abbey Road Primary School (Rushcliffe PSFA) shared the honours in the U11 Schools’ Cup (Girls) category.
The Small Schools’ Soccer Sevens was won by North Leverton Primary School (Bassetlaw PSFA) after the beat The British School (Wotton Under Edge PSFA) 2-1. Owen Gamble scored both goals for North Leverton while Cameron Pring grabbed one for the British School.
Overall this event was a wonderful advert for Schools’ Football. Most importantly, it presented girls and boys with memories that will last a lifetime.
