ESFA Competition Rule 4 - CONTROL (See pages 59/60 of current ESFA Handbook) requires Associations to register persons working with Representative Teams if they are not either a practicing/retired teacher or a current/retired employee of the education services.

There is a provision for Associations to use the services of a person not covered by the criteria above to work with teams with their written approval and to register these persons as an AOTT. THIS REGISTRATION OF AOTTS IS NOW AN ONLINE PROCESS (and not paper based a previous).

Associations should log into the Association Affiliation process using their Affiliation Code and Password. – Under “Association Information click on STAFF and then enter the details requested “Add a new member of Staff” –

There are 2 levels of AOTT:

1. Level 1 – a person who will be in sole control of a team

Criteria – individual must have:

  • an Enhanced FA CRC
  • attended an F A Safeguarding Children Workshop
  • a minimum of a FA Level 1 Coaching Qualification

2. Level 2 – a person who will be working alongside an individual who qualifies under the criteria listed above.

Criteria – individual must have:

  • An Enhanced FA CRC
  • attended an FA Safeguarding Children Workshop

You will need personal details including full name, date of birth, home Post Code and FA FAN No (where known) to complete the registration. Please ensure this information is accurate.

IMPORTANT CHANGES:

In 2015 the Law will change and the burden of responsibility for checking the suitability of all staff (including teachers) working with representative teams will shift to the Local and County Associations.

This will mean ALL staff must have an FA Enhanced CRC and it is the responsibility of each Association to ensure this is put into effect.

All Association are now required to register ALL staff working with teams (teachers and AOTTS) during the course of the new season – This will become a compulsory part of the affiliation process for 2015/2016 and we are encouraging Associations to complete this process during the course of this current season. Retired teachers and members of the education services MUST also comply with the requirements for a current FA CRC and attendance at recent Safeguarding Children workshop.
