ESFA Chairman, Mike Spinks, welcomes the Association’s new Chief Executive, Andrea Chilton

With great pleasure and on behalf of Council, affiliated Associations and thousands of schools around the country we would like to give a very warm welcome to Andrea Chilton as the ESFA's new Chief Executive.

Andrea replaces John Read who retired from the position of ESFA Chief Executive at the end of last year. She is the first female to lead the ESFA in its 110 year history.

Andrea took up her post at the beginning of September 2015 after fulfilling her contract as Deputy Principal of New College, Nottingham. She had previously been Vice Principal at Walsall College and held the same position at Cambridge Regional College prior to joining Walsall.

In welcoming Andrea Mike Spinks commented, “I am sure Andrea will prove to be a leader who will bring a breath of fresh air to the National Governing Body for schools football and will take it to new heights.”

Andrea Chilton commented: “I am delighted to join the ESFA at a time when we are embarking on our ambitious new business plan and building on our already successful schools’ football provision. Our reforms aim to enable our schools to provide increased opportunities for a greater number of pupils to play football more frequently, at a level appropriate to their skills. With our partners, we aim to make the opportunities to access football much clearer and easier and in so doing to encourage a wider range of participants to enjoy competitive football.

I look forward to working with our membership to achieve our ambition for and on behalf of school pupils across England.”
